Webb, Gibson, Carillio Fever winners

September 1, 2007

POST FALLS, IDAHO – With only five installments left in the midweek racing series Wednesday Night Fever at Stateline Speedway drivers Rusty Webb, Roman Gibson and Darryl Carillio drove to victory lane in pursuit of wins and championship points.

Webb, who won the fast dash, took a commanding lead in the caution filled 30-lap main event for the Fever 4 division to score the win. Webb held off fast time driver Colton Garber and John Vallone who won his first feature in the division last week.

Ron Edwards finished fourth followed by Stephen Plesek. Jamie Husk won the B Dash. Mathew Schoen and Rob Bambino won heats. With his win last week and a top three finish this week, rookie John Vallone holds a huge 150-point margin over active drivers KC Garber and Les Billings (683-points) and Colton Garber (682-points), third in the standings.

Coeur d’ Alene’s Roman Gibson passed dominant race leader Shannon Benn on the inside with 10-laps to go to win the main event for the Road Runners to pick up his first feature win of the season. Russell Syverson finished second followed by Jamie Allen in third.

Lonnie Jenkins and brothers Tim and Robert Benn won dashes. Dave Hatton, Darin Meeks and Grover Krogh won heats. Shane Zettle recovered from an early race spin to win the B Main.

Brain Sawatzki scored a triple win grabbing the checkers in the C Dash, C Heat and the 15-lap C Main, passing Reed Skinner.

Dave Hatton’s fast time, heat win and fifth place finish in the main keeps him in the top spot of the point standings for the Road Runners. Hatton holds a growing 24-point lead over Syverson in second. Jamie Allen continues to hold third, 20-points over Ryan Potts in fourth.

Darryl Carillio nudged and bumped to his seventh victory of the year in the main event for the Bump to Pass division. Carillio, in the “Crazy Taxi” battled past dash and heat winner Bob Willis for the victory. Willis’ dash win was his ninth of the season. Joel Schrader and point leader Vern Dorsey rounded out the top three.

Dorsey leads with 83-points followed by Yvonne Lifsey (82-points) and John Hollingsworth (80-points) in third. Points for the Bump to Pass division are awarded by starting and finishing events, not by race performance.

Saturday the Inland Northwest Winged Sprint Cars return as they countdown to their championship September 29. Spokane’s Tony Berry, who competed in last weekend’s Northwest Tour race, looks to hold on to his points lead in the open wheel ranks against previous race winner Justin Popple, Kevin Burck and Wes Helgeson.

Point’s battles in Street Stocks with perennial contender Randy Lasswell and Nathan Fleury and a point race between Ned Pennington, Billy Swift and Tyson Wilcox in Hobby Cars will also be featured. Events start at 6pm. Tickets are $10 for adults. Kids under the age of six are free.

The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues every Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free.
