GREAT FALLS, Mont. - In just a couple of days, the drivers of the Big Sky Sprint Tour and the Alberta Sprint Tour will go at it again for two nights of winged 360 sprint car racing at Dan Mann’s Electric City Speedway.

The Labor Day weekend Can-Am Border Battle event is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2. Both nights will pay $200 to start the A-Main. Saturday’s race will pay $1,000 to win, $800 for second and $650 for third. Sunday’s big winner will go home with $1,300 while the runner-up takes $1,000 and third takes $900.

Brent Kronfuss of Bozeman, Mont. is coming off a weekend sweep of the BSST events at Gallatin Speedway and Billings Motorsports Park this past weekend and now sits third in the BSST point standings. Phil Dietz of Billings finished second to Kronfuss on both nights and now leads the BSST, but only has a slim six-point lead over fellow Billings resident Mason Hill.

Dietz trailed Hill by 36 points going into last weekend’s events, but Hill was hurt by finishes of ninth and 12th while Dietz scored his two runner-up finishes.

Michelle Dodge, Jeremy McCune, Paxton Lambrecht, Teri Snedigar, Chip Roe, David Hoiness and Jay Burns make up the remainder of the BSST top ten.

Joe Ramaker of Boise, Idaho is the current point leader in the Alberta Sprint Tour with a slim eight-point advantage over former World of Outlaws driver Tim Gee. Casey Adams, Rocky Borys, Tyler Pinceman, Bill Boyce, Trevor Turnbill, Travis Rutz, Marc Dupperon and Sean Moran make up the remainder of the AST top ten. Rutz, who is also a regular competitor with the Northwest Sprint Challenge Series, won July’s Gold Cup Race of Champions at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton.

The two series got together back in May, also at Electric City Speedway. Ramaker won the first night of action before being bested by Kronfuss the next night. Nearly 30 cars were on hand.

This weekend, street stocks and “not so pure” stocks will run both nights in support of the AST and BSST sprint cars. Tickets for spectators ages 13 and older are $14. Kids ages six to 12 are $6. Children ages five and younger and senior citizens who are 70 or older get in for free. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. with racing scheduled to start around 7:30 p.m.
