Flammang Top Outlaw Street Stock at Stateline
July 1, 2007
POST FALLS, IDAHO – Gary Flammang endured a caution filled and final three-lap showdown to win the Northwest Outlaw Street Stocks Series 75-lap main event at Stateline Speedway Saturday night.
Â
Flammang a series veteran from Everett, Washington led from the start challenged by Dan Press as commotion ensued behind them. Cautions flew early in the race for spins bunching the field into tight packs on a narrow racing surface.
Â
A six car pack of determined drivers including Kevin Carver, past winner Dave Lund, Dustin Kagele, Gary Homad, Josh Wilson, and Bob Greiner made their way to the front with 25-laps to go passing and nudging lapped cars in chase.
Â
A four-car pile-up in turn three involving front runners Kagele, Wilson, Homad and Greiner brought out the final caution with three laps to go. The restart put Carver and Lund right behind leader Flammang for the green, white, checkered finish.
Â
Flammang, leading, darted out from the green. Carver caught the leader in turn two. Nudged by Carver, Flammang slid sideways down the backstretch. Flammang corrected, Carver dropped off pace. Lund closed in on Flammang’s bumper for the final lap but was unable to make the pass at the finish line.
Â
Flammang finished first followed by Lund. Michael Press cautiously maneuvered to the third place finish. Local driver Aaron Nevvers finished fourth. Dash winner Amanda McDonald rounded out the top five. Carver finished eighth.
Â
Flammang also won the B Heat. Michael Knutson won the A heat. Gary Homad won a dash.
