Co-Driver Husk, Captures Fever Win
May 25, 2007
POST FALLS, IDAHO – Although he is a co driver, capturing a win in the Fever 4 class was not a problem for Billy Husk during Wednesday Night Fever at Stateline Speedway.
Â
Husk, co driving Mel Auckerman’s Fever 4, battled to the front of the 30-lap main event for the division to take the win. Starting deep in the thick field didn’t stop the veteran driver as he took the lead mid-way in the race and held off Bruce and Colton Garber, second and third, in lapped traffic to take the win.
Â
Husk also won the heat race. Tom Plybon finished fourth. Tracey Thomas who was in contention for the lead earlier in the race rounded out the top five. Colton Garber and Jason O’Neal won the dashes. Matt Schoen won the B Heat.
Â
The co-driver program allows two drivers to compete together during the season using the same car. Many driver teams use the program. Points are awarded to the two-driver team.
Â
Multiple cautions, red flags and pile-ups plagued the Road Runner main events. Ryan Potts piloted to his first A main victory over new track record holder Russell Syverson and Chuck Davidson in the 20-lap feature race. The opening laps saw a turn four wreck involving multiple front row contenders.
Â
In the B Main two red flags halted the race after two separate incidents involving cars impacting the front stretch wall. All drivers were okay. In the end Brycen Tarr survived the fender bending commotion to hold off hard charging Heath Denson to win the 15-lap race.
Â
The C Main, with limited cautions, allowed Treven Tarr to hold off Corey Allen for the win.
Â
Chris Gilson, Chuck Davidson won dashes. Steve Mathers, Tim Benn, Steve Schovaers and Brian Sawatzki won heats.
Â
Bob Willis won the dash and heat race for the Bump to Pass division along with heat race winner Adam Osborn. Darryl Carillio dominated the 15-lap feature race over Yvonne Lifsey, Willis and last week’s race winner James Cotter.
Â
Saturday the Inland Northwest Winged Sprint cars return. Street Stocks and Outlaw Compacts also are scheduled to do battle. Adults are $10, kids under six are free. Events start at 6pm.
Â
The wild, wacky, unpredictable action of Wednesday Night Fever continues every Wednesday at 6pm with the cars and superstars of the Road Runners, Fever 4’s, plus the wild and crazy Bump to Pass division. Adults are just $5.75; kids under the age of nine accompanied by adults are free.
