PORTLAND, Oregon – Lightning struck twice for Scottie Jenkins, who found himself starting on the pole position yet again last Saturday night at Irwindale Speedway.

His second-place qualification time of 19.034 seconds was the magic number for the inversion reshuffle, placing him just ahead of High Point Racing teammates Tim Huddleston, Jace Meier and Chris Carmody. Jenkins held his ground on the challenging inside line for the first eight laps, constantly jockeying for the faster outside orbit. Ultimately Jenkins succeeded in piercing the 90 MPH bumper-to-bumper lineup at the fifth position, which he held all the way through the finish despite dogged efforts to pass teammate Meier.

“Starting on the pole two races in a row and getting our first big points finish is a huge step forward for the E.F.I. team…it’s a great confidence booster,” raved Jenkins. “In fact, the whole Justice Brothers / High Point Racing team is getting stronger & stronger. These guys have a lot of experience and racing with them is very educational. I’m watching the way they race and how they pass, and am making mental notes until it becomes second-nature. I have only four stock car races under my belt so far, but I still want to be competitive every lap and race hard for more good finishes.”
