Meier wins at the Bullring; carries momentum into Irwindale
May 7, 2007
Las Vegas, NV – Jace “the Ace” Meier came home this past Saturday to win big in the Late Model feature at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Scoring his first victory of the season over High Point Racing teammate Chris Carmody and track champion Doug Hamm, Meier drove smart to win the 30-lap race.
The win, along with the almost victory last week at Irwindale, gives Meier the momentum he needs to get back to the California track and compete for Rookie of the Year and hopefully more.
“It was an incredible win,” said Meier. “We had a great car all weekend thanks to all my guys from High Point Racing and the Racecar Factory. It’s phenomenal to get my first win of the season at my home track in front of all my family and friends. The officials made it hard on us by making me start in the back of the heat race, but we fought through it as a team and ended the night in Victory Lane! I really think that we’re going to have a good shot of being in contention for another win this weekend back at Irwindale”
Starting off pole, Meier took the lead from pole-sitter Glen Burke on the first lap, in a daring three-wide move down the back straightway. For Meier, it was back and forth all evening with point leader Doug Hamm who is undefeated in the Late Model class in 2007. After Hamm took the lead in lap 11, Meier battled back and regained the lead on lap 21 racing first to the checkered flag.
Meier is an 18 year old Las Vegas native. When he isn’t racing, Meier is an honor student at Spring Valley High School, president of his senior class and a very active member in his school and the community, in addition to serving as a Motivational Speaker.
