Sinister top five at Orange Show

March 19, 2007

SAN BERNARDINO, CA – Sinister Motorsports driver Jim Mardis nosed his way to victory and teammate Martin Timm took the checkered flag fifth in the 25-loap ASA Pony Stock main event at Orange Show Speedway.

Mardis, the defending class champion, seemed destined for a third-place finish until an accident with three laps to go brought out a yellow caution flag that let the field close up on the leader.

When the race was restarted, Riverside’s Mardis moved into second, and coming off Turn 4 for the final time Mardis was able to accelerate just enough to get the nose of his Ford Pinto ahead of the Pinto of race-long leader Richard Boker.

Timm, of San Diego, a first-year-driver, avoided trouble early on and moved into the top five while Mardis was waging his battle for the lead.
