Las Vegas driver will begin season Saturday
Las Vegas, NV – Jace “the Ace” Meier is set to enter his fifth year of competitive racing as he debuts car #55 in the Late Model Division at Irwindale Speedway this Saturday. Meier has been selected to drive for High Point Racing with Tim Huddleston, a past Late Model division champion and owner of one of the top Late Model teams in Southern California.
In the past few weeks, Meier has been testing his new car to much success. In early February he tested to “shake down” the car and get familiarized with his new team. The team was very impressed with how quickly he adapted to the car and the track.
“I became comfortable with the car and was less than two-tenths off the pace,” said Meier. “Working with my crew chief Brett Barnett and my entire team has been phenomenal. In just a short time we’ve found we work well together and quickly got the car set-up to my liking.”
“I saw Meier race last season at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway,” said team owner Tim Huddleston. “I was so impressed with his driving ability, in addition to his marketing savvy. And, he’s a Ron Sutton Winner’s Circle Development Driver, so his knowledge and skills are a great asset to our team.”
March 3rd was Meier’s first “open test” at Irwindale. Roughly 30 Late Model teams showed up and he was in the top three on the “time sheets.” In a few sessions he clocked the fast times
Meier was named “Rookie of the Year” in the NASCAR Late Model division at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this season. In addition, he ran with USAC as part of the California Ford Focus Midget Pavement series, winning three races and four poles in the past two seasons.
Meier is an 18 year old Las Vegas native. When he isn’t racing, Meier is an honor student at Spring Valley High School, president of his senior class and a very active member in his school and the community, in addition to serving as a Motivational Speaker.
