LMCS SANCTIONS WITH ARCA WEST

December 27, 2006

GRAHAM, WA – Officials from the Late Model Challenge Series announced today that the series has joined with ARCA West, becoming part of the growing ARCA racing family.  The Late Model Challenge Series (LMCS) has operated independently for seven years; with continued growth and expansion each season to become the premier Late Model touring program in the Northwest region.

“The Late Model Challenge Series was created to provide race teams with an opportunity to show their skills at racetracks throughout the region and advance to higher levels of auto racing,” explained Jerry Losch, series director.  “ARCA has solidly established its Motorsports position in the industry, and the timing of this affiliation will help enhance the sport of Late Model racing throughout the Northwest.  Our drivers and teams will immediately benefit from ARCA’s affordable membership package and the associated benefits of belonging to a national sanctioning body.”

The series will be known as the ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series, and is expected to host 9-10 events during 2007 at premier asphalt racetracks in Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon & BC Canada.  The tracks range in size from ¼-mile ‘bullrings’ to ½-mile high banked ovals.  The schedule is racer and family friendly with bi-weekly events and a midseason break for vacations, specials, etc.  Last season, 92 of the region’s best drivers participated, averaging 28+ cars per event.  Troy Conrad of Tacoma WA was the series’ sixth different champion in seven seasons.

“Jerry Losch will now become the Vice President of Competition and Track Operations for all of ARCA West and its series.  Under the new reorganization plan for ARCA West, Jerry Losch will continue his LMCS operations as usual, with all the race operations and track operations of ARCA West being transferred to his office.  With the addition of Jerry Losch, and a new marketing person, the new ARCA West will be stronger” said Richard Michaud, President of ARCA West.
