“Tour” races, champions and an ice rink
December 4, 2006
With the 2006 season finished and the top 10 trophies awarded in each division at the 2006 Awards Banquet, news from Ted Pollock sounds promising for the 2007 season. Pollock just purchased the Ice Skating Rink and property next door. His plans for the upcoming racing season have already begun to take shape.
This fall, after the entire racing season was finished, Ted had the track surface prepped and sealed for preparation of the 2007-racing season. Pollock is planning to install some new infield lights and requiring racers to install a new spec muffler to quiet the noise for the fans and the surrounding community. Ron Bennett announced three tour races have been scheduled at Yakima.
The first race will be on Memorial Day weekend with 125 laps, the second race will see the return of the Sun City 200 on the weekend after the 4th of July. The third and final race will be on Labor Day weekend with 200 laps planned. The Annual Apple Cup is slated for April 14 and 15th and the Fall Classic on September 28th, 29th, and 30th. The Northwest Outlaw Street Stock will make a one-time appearance and the Late Model Championship Series will make two appearances this year.
More events are currently being scheduled as track manager Ron Bennett continues to hammer out the details.
