Midgets Make Stateline Speedway Visit in May
December 4, 2006
Stateline Speedway officials announced the confirmation of a Washington Midget Racing Association event in 2007. The event featuring pavement midgets from around the northwest is scheduled for Saturday May 5, 2007 part of Stateline Speedway’s spring schedule of events. The race will be the only appearance of the season for the series at Stateline Speedway.
A highly anticipated, one night only show will present a wide variety of the northwest’s open wheel racing scene with defending champion Spence Gatrell of Portland, Oregon tackling the high-banked quarter mile oval.
Series regulars Rob Lindsey and Ken Ferris along with a full field of drivers including Brea Lopez, Dallas Melby, and 2005 race winner Matt Stone will be joining Gatrell as they look for the victory.
Local Spokane drivers Tony Berry and radio personality Tony Villelli have also made starts in the last two WMRA appearances at Stateline Speedway.
Many of WMRA’s competitors competed outside the Northwest in recent months at national United States Auto Club races in California. In 2005, drivers participated at USAC race events in Florida.
