Madera job search narrowing; tri-track opp. to get bid

Shepherd appears to be the favorite to fill promoter’s position at the speedway.

Stock car racer Kenny Shepherd most likely will be the new promoter at Madera Speedway. The selection of Shepherd to run the one-third-mile asphalt oval next to Highway 99 will be announced today, Madera District Fair Chief Executive Scott Sample said.

“We got the promoter we were hoping for,” Sample said.

Teammates Brian Malone and John Mattie won the twin 25-lap main events and Harry Michaelian Jr. claimed the Stock Cars USA championship as the Orange Show Speedway Winter Series got under way Sunday afternoon.
