Winter Blast at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway

Blythe, Calif - The Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway, a quarter mile paved oval located at the
Colorado River Fairgrounds in Blythe-California, will present round three of their 2006-2007 Winter Blast Series this Saturday night, October 28th.
Open wheel fans will be thrilled with the special guest division this Saturday night. The USAC Ford Focus Midgets will be in Blythe.This open wheel touring series literally flies around the Lucal Oil I 10 Speedway’s quarter mile oval and provides very close, wheel to wheel, exciting racing.
The speedway’s regular Winter Blast divisions will also see plenty of action this Saturday night as well. As another special treat to open wheel fans, the Budweiser Modifieds will be making their second appearance of the season. Joey Mogar, on the strength of his October 14th feature win, leads the series standings with 50 points. But, at this early point of the season, there’s only 10 points seperating the Las Vegas driver from the likes of Chris Gerchman, Jason Patision, Jimmy Dickerson, Billy Johanneck and Danny Gay.
The Sunoco Fuel Pure Street Stocks will be making their third appearance of the season this Saturday night. Ryan Kerr leads the points standings, at 98, on the strength of his feature win on October 14th. Richard Selph is only 8 points behind him with Kenny Faulkner holding down third only 12 points behind the leader. Danny Dill, who won the season opener back on September 30th, is fourth in the standings 16 points back.
The always fun Factory Stocks will also see some track time this Saturday for the third time this year. Jason Freeman leads the standings with 36 points but it’s only four points ahead of John Lawrence. Christine Phelps, who won the October 14th feature, holds down third in the standings with 29 points while Brian Sutterfield is in fourth with 28 points. The Blythe Towing team, with a rotation of drivers, is fifth in the standings with 26 points. Blythe Towing won the season opening feature on September 30th.
The spectator gates will open at 5 pm Saturday and, as always, the evening features an on track autograph and photo session. The green flag falls on the first event at 7 pm. For complete details dial up the speedway’s official website at www.i10speedway.com.
